Description: BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Master Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00027 was entered into by and between the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service (NPS), and SEEDS, Inc. to foster local solutions to global issues and provide youth opportunities to gain experience in a number of green collar industries that are increasingly relevant to the 21st century workplace. Green collar industries add value to both the natural resources and the social fabric of a community in additional to any economic benefits. The Teaching Traditional Building/Landscaping Skills Training Project will expand an existing partnership based on service learning projects between Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and SEEDS/NWMYCC youth projects (ages 16-25). This expanded program will include teaching traditional skills that could provide a career opportunity, supplement incomes, and healthy avocations for youth. The project is based on the transfer and practice of skills through hands-on and personalized mentor-apprentice relationships working in crews completing projects addressed for their progressive skill levels. STATEMENT OF WORK RECIPIENT AGREES TO: 1. Assist the traditional skills educator and park historical architect in the planning, project selection, and adapting projects for the skill level of the crews assembled. 2. Assemble and employ the crews, crew leaders, and traditional skills educator for the projects identified and insure crews arrive at job sites as assigned and as scheduled by the traditional skills educator and the park historical architect. Provide transportation to the site for the crews. 3. Collaborate with traditional skills educator and park historical architect in completing projects as assigned and directed. 4. Coordinate with traditional skills educator and park historical architect to select materials and tools needed to insure both are procured and available on the project site when and as needed. 5. Complete all reports, keep the traditional skills educator and park historical architect informed of progress, or rescheduling that may affect the completion of the task or project, and attend all meetings as directed an assigned. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE AGREES TO: 1. Participate and collaborate jointly with the Recipient in carrying out the scope of work. 2. To provide a NPS technical representative, park historical architect and building and utilities staff as needed, to assist with specifics of the project as needed. 3. Review and approve one stage of work before the next stage can begin. 4. Direct or redirect the work because of interrelationships with other projects. 5. Immediately halt an activity if detailed performance specifications are not met. 6. Oversee Recipient discretion with respect to scope of work, organizational structure, staffing, mode of operations and other management processes, combined with close monitoring or operational involvement during performance under this Task Agreement.
