BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Master Cooperative Agreement Number P15AC00020 was entered into by and between the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, (NPS) and Greening Youth Foundation for the purpose of working with diverse, underserved and underrepresented children, youth and young adults in an effort to develop and nurture enthusiastic and responsible environmental stewards. Task Agreement P16AC00012 agreement amount is $28,705.00 and a modification to add additional funding for $25,881.00 is required to fund the current project activities. STATEMENT OF WORK: The objective of this Task Agreement is to recruit five interns through the Greening Youth Foundation to serve as Cadet Scholars who will advance the mission of the Col. Charles Young Historic site by providing research on Young’s travels and locations during his entire life span. This information will be used to connect visitors (which include children, adults, and families) to the legacy of Col. Charles Young and his work as a Buffalo Soldier. The chief goal of this internship will be completed by utilizing primary research and developing various themed tours of the Charles Young home that will be able to reach all visitors to the site. The Cadet Scholars will also explore what took place in the life of Col. Charles Young from 1864-1922, and they will interpret those findings to the public using walking tours, illustrated talks, and social media. RECIPIENT AGREES TO: Greening Youth Foundation agrees to recruit interns to conduct research in archives, libraries and repositories connected the life and times of Col. Charles Young; interpret historic documents and gain permissions to publish information to be posted on park exhibits that are connected to the life and history of Col. Charles Young; conduct presentations on research findings in the greater Wilberforce/ Dayton community; conduct tours of the Charles Young home and grounds. NATIONAL PARK SERVICE AGREES TO: NPS agrees to provide general orientation to park operations and NPS Mission to interns; select and manage interns and their related work projects; provide the tools and materials necessary to complete the research; provide archival, interpretive, and safety training necessary for the interns to complete research and conduct tours; provide subject matter experts to interns who will clarify issues found during research process; provide interns the workspace to produce a tour of the Charles Young home; review and approve one stage of work before the next stage can begin; direct or redirect the work because of interrelationships with other projects; halt an activity if detailed performance specifications are not met. |
