Description: |
Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s) Project Archaeology (PA) program has been very successful in Oklahoma with teachers filling up training workshops and then using the program in their classrooms. This program has conveyed archaeological knowledge of Oklahomaâ¿¿s cultural history and lifeways to participating schools throughout Oklahoma for the past five years. Currently, the Project Archaeology curriculums are generally applicable to archaeological sites in Oklahoma, particularly the very popular Investigating Shelter. Within this curriculum, there are various available teaching modules that are focused on particular types of shelter used by different cultural groups throughout history as found in the archaeological record. Teachers using Investigating Shelter have expressed a desire for an Investigating Shelter module more applicable to the archaeological shelters that are found in Oklahoma. |
