Description: |
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is an independent agency, established by the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974, tasked with licensing and regulating the Nation’s civilian use of byproduct, source, and special nuclear material to ensure adequate protection of public health and safety, to promote the common defense and security, and to protect the environment. The effort under this grant will aid the development of Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) standards that include but are not limited to Level 1 (e.g., Large Early Release Frequency (LERF), internal events, internal and external hazards, etc.), full accident progression and source term analysis (level 2 PRA), and consequence analysis (level 3 PRA), of operating reactors and advanced and non- light-water reactor (LWR reactors). |
