Description:SA has more people infected with HIV than any other country. In order to reach UNAIDS and PEPFAR goals, the SA and US governments are pushing to initiate 6 million people on antiretroviral (ART) by 2020. However, health workers are often mal-distributed and not of the right skill-mix to achieve national health goals and population needs for HIV services. This award will proactively respond to the HRH data needs of the SAG and PEPFAR, including the tracking of training, distribution/allocation and retention of health workers with the right skill-mix for high HIV burden areas. As information needs are constantly changing, the recipient will develop a robust, responsive, and reliable HRIS aligned to HRH workflows in order to improve operational and strategic decisions on health workforce resulting in improved health care service delivery and health outcomes in SA. The systems developed will generate health workforce data at all levels and will aim to cover the public and private sectors.
