Description: PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: U.S. Embassy Moscow’s Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to announce “Sharing America with Russia,” which supports the promotion of American culture, education, freedoms, values, and collaboration between Americans and Russians. Funding for this program is now available through our PAS grants office. This call for proposals outlines our funding priorities, strategic themes, and the procedure for submitting funding requests. Applicants may apply for funding for any amount up to $200,000. Maximum for Each Award: $200,000. You do not need to submit a grant request for the maximum amount. Submit a budget that suited to your organization's capacity and tailored to accomplish your goals. Note that smaller awards may be approved more quickly. Deadline for Applications: Rolling until June 1, 2021. Applications are reviewed every month, and funds are distributed as needed on a first-come-first served basis. Feel free to submit your application at any time between now and June 1. Some grants will be awarded immediately, but in some cases, grant funding will not be available until September 2021. Please carefully follow all instructions below. Please use the grant application document and budget template found on our website. Purpose: PAS Moscow invites proposals for projects that promote an understanding of the American values of democracy, freedom, and an open society, as well as proposals that increase the understanding of America’s diverse cultures and groups. The program promotes a broader understanding of American values, culture, and how government, citizens, and nongovernmental groups can work together in a democratic society. Competitive proposals should include a connection with American expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) that will promote increased cooperation between the people of the United States and Russia even after the program has ended. Lastly, cultural programs should build understanding and collaboration by sharing the rich and diverse traditions of the United States and showcase collaboration between Americans and Russians. COVID-19 disclaimer: Out of an abundance of caution, due to the ongoing pandemic, PAS Moscow cannot fund projects that involve travel or in-person interaction at this time. Any proposal that includes an in-person element must also explain how the program would take place virtually in the likely event that in-person activities remain impossible. Proposals that do not include such a plan may not be given further consideration by the grants committee. Proposals can include, but are not limited to, the following themes: American Values: · Showcase and explain the role that civil society and nongovernmental groups play in the United States; · Create tailored programs and activities for Russians, including emerging leaders, women, racial and ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, and low-income or at-risk Russians; · Promoting American freedoms such as freedom of religion, freedom of press, freedom of speech, and freedom of association; · Reduce the stigmatization of minority or underrepresented groups, especially through an increased understanding and reduction of Gender Based Violence. American Culture: · Promotion of equality for all Americans, including Americans from minority groups, and disabled persons; · Educating Russians about the unique and diverse sectors of American society lesser- known in Russia (such as Latinx, Asian Americans, etc.) · Promotion of unique and specialized American cultural traditions in art, dance, and/or theater; · Cultural diplomacy that fosters people-to-people connections, increases understanding, and builds mutual respect or cultural programs based on visual arts, sports, film, performing arts, as well as cross-cultural discussions, presentations, and round tables Proposals may NOT: · Solely benefit one Russian or American entity, business, or university. · Generate income. All income generated from grant projects must be used to further the goals of the programs. For example, income earned through a demonstration project must be used to extend the duration of the project or fund more participants. · Should not primarily focus on academic or scientific research. Deadline for Applications: Rolling until June 1, 2021 Total Amount Available: Amount pending funds availability Maximum for Each Award: $200,000 Who may apply: U.S. and Russian nonprofits, institutions of higher education, NGOs and civil society, museums, parks, reserves, and community organizations.
