Grants are awarded for a one-year period. The U.S. Mission to Uganda seeks proposals that present creative, original and innovative ideas that provide direct support to the community members infected and affected by HIV/AIDS. The program must also have an evidence-based understanding of the HIV epidemic and the risk of HIV and from HIV in the targeted community. The President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) is a U.S. Government-funded global program that provides treatment, prevention and care for people living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The PEPFAR program in Uganda provides treatment, reduces HIV infections, and provides care and support for more than 800,000 individuals.
