Notice of Intent to award a cooperative agreement to the Michigan Geological Survey, under the auspices of Western Michigan University, in support of the project entitled "Project 1-Surficial Geologic Mapping Cass County, Michigan; Edwardsburg Quadrangle and continuation of county map compilations with adjoining Van Buren, St. Joseph and Berrien counties and Project 2- FEDMAP- Great Lakes 3D Geologic Frameworks and Coastal Dynamics Project USGS, NCGMP, Coalition, EDMAP and State Surveys to assess shoreline resiliency". The main objective of this project is map the surficial geology of the Edwardsburg quadrangle and compile consistent geologic interpretations in the adjoining counties to conform with current mapping products and progress toward completion of a final Southwest Michigan map product. Additionally, MGS will work to develop a collaborative research and mapping project, a coalition with the USGS and other state surveys, to build a 3D geologic framework model along the Lake Michigan shoreline. |
