The Award Ceiling for Year 1 is 0 (none). CDC anticipates an Approximate Total Fiscal Year Funding amount of $7,500,000 for Year 1, subject to the availability of funds. Zambia has made some strides in its fight against the HIV epidemic. Although HIV incidence has fallen by 24% since 2010, certain groups have been left behind, including men and adolescent girls and boys. Emerging evidence suggests that collaboration with faith-based organizations (FBO) can reach these groups. In many countries, FBOs provide between 20% to 50% of the health and educational needs of communities. In Zambia, about 90% of the country’s population professes alignment with the Church. It is a trusted institution and often the only organized unit in most communities. The goal of this NOFO is to improve HIV prevention, care, and treatment outcomes in target communities by engaging FBOs to provide critical prevention interventions to improve awareness of the HIV epidemic and improve linkage to care and treatment. The scope of this NOFO targets communities of faith, including faith leaders because positive changes in their knowledge and attitudes to the epidemic will in turn influence changes in faith communities and improve health outcomes. It will also target primary prevention of sexual violence and HIV among 9-14 year old boys and girls, by focusing on evidence-based activities that prevent sexual violence and any form of coercive, non-consensual, or forced sex; prevention of early sexual debut; and helping communities and families to provide an enabling environment that improves violence and sexual risk reduction, and helps link victims to the justice system. |
