Description:The purpose of this FOA is to support research project applications that are developmental and exploratory in nature to expand our knowledge on the basic neurobiology of the interrelationship between sleep and substance use disorders (SUDs). These mechanistic studies will not only offer an insight into the fundamental processes that link substance use disorders to disorders of sleep regulation and vice-versa but may also have implications for managing risk for the development of SUDs and identifying new targets for prevention and therapeutics.
