Description: |
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is specifically focused on developing lower cost, scalable technologies for CO2 capture from air. There are two areas of interest (AOI):AOI-1. Bench-Scale Testing of Structured Material Systems or Component Designs at Technology Readiness Level (TRL 3) for Optimized direct air capture. The objective of the AOI-1 bench-scale Research & Development (R&D) effort is to advance promising structured material systems or component designs for Direct Air Capture (DAC) to a sufficient maturity level that can justify their scale- up in a subsequent program. AOI-2. Initial Engineering Design of Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage Systems (TRL 6) for Direct Air Capture. The objective of the AOI-2 is to complete an initial design of a commercial-scale, Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage system for Direct Air Capture (CCUS-DAC) that separates, and stores or utilizes, a minimum of 100,000 tonne/yr. net CO2 from air. |
